Saturdays in the Park?
The Wheelman, Member of I love my Wheels, Jun 06, 2006
I like parks. Everyone likes parks. So the question of the day is, why can't we just all get along and allow each other to enjoy Golden Gate Park each in their own way?
Bicyclist Must Obey Traffic Rules
By Wheelman, Member of ‘I Love my Wheels’, May 09, 2006
There are, no doubt, hundreds of thousands of bicycle owners in San Francisco, I am one of them. Having ridden bikes in a number of cities across the U.S., including in such local ones as Oakland and Berkeley, I looked forward upon my move into San Francisco to doing the same here. What I immediately discovered is that geography has not been kind to bicyclists in this city - it has put steep hills nearly everywhere. Therefore, like the vast majority of bike owners here, I soon relegated my bike riding to pleasure rides on the few flat surfaces such as the Panhandle Golden Gate Park, or the Marina. It remains my view that bicycles are simply not a realistic form of day-to-day travel for the vast majority of San Franciscans.
Pedestrians are Careless
By Wheelman, Apr 12, 2006
My first column commented rather critically on the drivers of San Francisco and their tendency to ignore many of the traffic laws. I also believe, however, that most drivers do obey the basic rules such as stopping at red lights and stop signs and yielding to pedestrians in crosswalks and the like. Now let's talk about pedestrians.
Uneasy Rider: “Don’t tread on me”
By Wheelman, Member of I Love my Wheels, Mar 06, 2006
This will be a column by a long-term resident of the City who ownes and drives a car. I believe that there should be more representation in all media regarding the views and interests of car owners, particularly since passengers constitute the vast majority of city residents. However, like most residents, I am also a pedestrian, a Muni rider, and an occasional bicyclist. So I intend to comment on all sorts of transportation and transit issues, generally from the viewpoint of a driver.
